BUILT ON A 15-YEAR FRIENDSHIP

Brandon Duffy and Thomas Hall first met while working together in Afghanistan in 2011. What started as a working relationship became a friendship, and over the years, a hunting partnership.

Both are fathers of five, men of faith, and lifelong outdoorsmen. When they aren't working or raising their families, they're usually chasing the next adventure—fishing in Alaska, hunting the Midwest and mountains out West, or spending whatever time they can get in the woods and on the water.

Nearly 15 years after they first met, Brandon and Thomas are working together again—this time building First Wind™ and bringing new products and ideas to hunters.

Their approach is simple: spend time in the field, listen to hunters, solve real problems, test relentlessly, and build products they would use themselves.

THE IDEA STARTED IN THE FIELD

Like a lot of hunting ideas, First Wind™ started with a problem in the field.

We knew scent could be effective, but traditional scent deployment had limitations. Wind changes. Terrain changes. Animals don't always move where you expect them to. We wanted a system that allowed hunters to use those variables instead of constantly fighting them.

That idea became Get Winded™.

Early concepts were hand built, carried into the field and tested. From there, the challenge became turning the idea into something repeatable, durable and capable of being manufactured at scale.

Our friend Cody Conner—a professional musky guide and master machinist—helped us take that next step, machining Proto Uno from our developing design. It became our first commercially scalable prototype in hand and gave us a platform we could test, refine and ultimately design for production.

What followed was more prototypes, scent development, field testing, failures, changes and more testing.

We didn't set out to make another hunting product. We set out to build something we wanted in our own packs.

BUILT. TESTED. REBUILT.

Proto Uno proved the concept could move beyond our early field-built versions. But proving an idea and having a product ready for the field are two different things.

The next major step was a milled aluminum prototype. It allowed us to continue testing the geometry, airflow, burn characteristics and overall function while we refined the design for production.

Every version taught us something. Some ideas stayed. Others went away. Dimensions changed, airflow changed, materials changed—and we kept testing.

The goal wasn't to get to market fast. It was to get the product right.

BUILT FOR THE NEXT ADVENTURE

First Wind™ started with an idea in the field, but it was never meant to stop with one product.

We’re hunters, fishermen, fathers and outdoorsmen. We build around the problems we encounter ourselves—then test, refine and keep working until we have something we’re proud to carry into the field.

The Smoke Stack™ and Get Winded™ Scent Sticks are where we're starting. There’s a lot more ahead.

We’re building First Wind for the people who would rather be outside, who chase the next hunt, the next fish, the next camp and the next story.

See you out there.

Don’t Fight the Wind. Get Winded™.
